The Warriors have one roster spot remaining, and could be eyeing a veteran big man.
It was reported Friday that the Warriors are among the teams interested in signing 36-year-old free agent Paul Millsap. The Mercury News' Wes Goldberg reported Monday that the Warriors spoke with Millsap's representation earlier this month, and "have not shut the door" on potentially signing the former All-Star.
Millsap played 56 games last season for the Denver Nuggets, starting 36 of them. He averaged 9.0 points, which was his lowest since the 2007-08 season. Millsap also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game and shot 34.3 percent from deep.
While it's clear Millsap's best days are far behind him, he's another suitable veteran who could play valuable minutes for a team that expects to win right away. Adding Millsap to Golden State's roster would complete what has been considered a strong offseason.
The Warriors already have brought on Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica in free agency. Perhaps Millsap is next.
General manager Bob Myers does still have the full $5.9 million taxpayer midlevel exception, but doesn't seem eager to use it. Myers could opt to go into the season with 14 players and use the money on the buyout market.
"I don't think we use it. I think we tried, we put it out there for some players we thought were difference-makers. But it's not wise, and I would almost protect Joe from himself if he said go spend it on anyone. It does cost us about $25 million to spend the $5 million, which again I laugh, I know listeners or fans don't care about that part, but we have to," Myers said on "Damon, Ratto and Kolsky."
"We have to be smart about it, we've got it in a buyout, I do think every year there's players that are bought out, if you need to spend a little more money in that market, we have it for that. But at this point Damon, I don't foresee us using it as it looks right now."

We'll have to wait and see what happens next with Millsap, but this sounds far from a closed case.
