EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --

The Air Force's Civilian Health Promotions Services ‘Move More’ Challenge offers eligible patrons a way to improve the way they feel and function.

During September and October, Civilian Health Promotion Services will promote and conduct its physical activity challenge.  Physical activity is essential to prevent and reduce risks of many diseases and improve physical and mental health.

“The Move More challenge is a great motivational tool to help people move more and sit less,” said Kim Harris, Eglin’s CHPS coordinator.  “You don’t have to make big life changes to see the benefits.  Simply start building more activity into your day, one step at a time.”

Federal civilian employees and active duty members at Air Force Materiel Command, Air Mobility Command and Air Force Special Operations Command installations with a staffed CHPS program are eligible to participate.

How to participate:

  • Enroll online at USAFwellness.com from Aug. 16 to Sep. 12.  Federal civilians need an up-to-date Health Risk Assessment to participate.
  • Print the MM confirmation email to turn in at the initial check-in with CHPS staff. between Aug. 30 and Sep. 10 to finalize enrollment and receive a free CHPS t-shirt.
  • Perform and log physical activity minutes and/or pedometer steps on the activity logs at USAFwellness.com from Sep. 13 to Oct. 24.  One minute of physical activity or 100 steps equals one ‘move.’
  • Attend the CHPS “Get Ready, Get Set, MOVE!” education class from Sep. 13 to Oct. 24.  Both in-person and virtual sessions will be available.
  • Attend a final check-out with CHPS from Oct. 2 to Nov. 5 to receive a completion award.

To earn the completion award:

  • Attend a CHPS check-in event or contact the local CHPS team to ensure you are enrolled in the challenge.
  • Complete and log at least 1,000 moves.
  • Attend a “Get Ready, Get Set, MOVE!” class.

Participants who complete all challenge requirements will receive a free CHPS drawstring sports pack.  Eligible patrons are encouraged to contact a physician before beginning any physical activity program.
