Derek Lindow threw a two-hitter and was supported by an 11-hit offensive attack as the Nevis baseball team opened the season with an 11-0 Northland Conference win over Pine River-Backus at Nevis on Monday, April 19.
Ethan Klimek (3 for 3, two runs, two RBI), Dan Aman (2 for 3, two runs, two RBI) and Eli Klimek (2 for 2, two RBI) led the Tigers’ offense. Reese Kline (1 for 3), Dawson McGee (two runs), Lindow (1 for 2, two runs) and Tyler Lindow (1 for 2, two runs, one RBI) also aided the offense. Lindow struck out nine and walked two as this game ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
The Tigers scored three runs in the first, five runs in the second and eight runs in the fourth as PR-B fell to 4-1 on the season.
“It was fun to get on the field again after two years,” said Nevis head coach Larry Franck. “The guys showed some rust, but played a great game behind the pitching of Derek Lindow. The team hit the ball well for the first game of the year.”
