FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Two well-reviewed ocean shore restaurants in Flagler Beach are back open after they were temporarily shut down by health inspectors last week.
Inspectors found rodent droppings at both The Net By George and Bed and Breakfast By The Sea, otherwise known as By The Sea Cafe.
The Net By George on Ocean Shore Boulevard racked up 19 violations during a routine inspection on April 15. Among the basic-level violations, the inspector found duct tape used to repair an oven handle and no soap at a handwashing sink
The high priority violations listed include 110 scattered rodent droppings and that several food items were either improperly stored or not held at the right temperature.
However, the restaurant wasn’t forced to shut down at that inspection. It wasn’t until a follow-up inspection the next day when more droppings were found that the DBPR gave emergency shut down orders.
The inspector returned the next day and The Net By George reopened with no violations found during that inspection.
News4Jax spoke to the owner who said they run an immaculate restaurant and have passed previous inspections. This was the restaurant’s only emergency shut down, according to DBPR records.
