UPDATE l US 35 shut down after second crash - WSAZ

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Rt. 35 is shut down once again, just a few hours after reopening from a previous crash.

A second crash happened just after 5 a.m. Monday near Shamrock Road.

According to the Winfield Fire Department, a semi traveling north overturned going into a curve.

Firefighters say two men were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

One of the men was driving, while the other was in the sleeper cab.

All lanes are closed on Rt. 35 and going to be closed for awhile as they await the arrival of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

The ATF is required because the truck was hauling cigarettes.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Parts of Rt. 35 have reopened in Putnam County following a crash.

West Virginia 511 says one southbound lane is still closed near Shamrock Ln. for road repair following the crash.

The road reopened a little after 3 Monday morning, after parts of the road were closed for more than eight hours following a tractor trailer crash. The condition of the driver is unknown.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - One man was injured in a crash on US-35 on Shamrock Lane.

According to dispatchers, the crash happened just after 6:30 PM and involved a tractor trailer that flipped.

Dispatchers also tell us the driver of that tractor trailer was entrapped inside the vehicle.

Crews were able to free him, but he is being flown to a nearby hospital due to his injuries.

His condition is unknown at this time.

All lanes of US-35 in this area will be closed for an unknown duration of time to allow crews to clean up the debris from this crash.
