At first, the novel coronavirus seemed like a distant threat. Then came the news out of the state of Washington: a 35-year-old man who had just returned from visiting family in Wuhan, China, was in urgent care with a cough and fever. On January 20, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed he had tested positive for the coronavirus.
The United States had its first known case of COVID-19.
Four days later, the CDC reported another case — this time in Illinois.
The respiratory virus, proving highly contagious, continued to spread. On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) characterized COVID-19 as a pandemic.
Now, as of September 14, there are 6,538,000 total cases in the U.S.
Scientists are working round the clock to better understand the virus and come up with inexpensive, readily available tests, treatments, and vaccines; medical professionals continue to grapple with how to treat those suspected of having it; and leaders seek to contain COVID-19 while keeping the public calm amid supply chain disruptions and unemployment.
Tracking Urgent COVID-19 Sourcing Activity
Responses, PPE availability, and case numbers have varied widely by state. Six months into the pandemic, we have now seen certain trends emerge. Using aggregated and anonymized data from the Thomas COVID-19 Response System, we have published the 2020 U.S. Sourcing Activity Snapshot: COVID-19 Special Edition.
This new, free eBook reveals state-specific COVID-19 sourcing activity that indicates how data corresponds with total cases on a state level while giving an overview of established sourcing patterns in different regions of the U.S. The snapshot also provides data on the sourcing trends of the top 10 products and services of the COVID-19 Response System.
Revealing Patterns Between COVID-19 Sourcing and Case Totals by State
As theories about a second wave of COVID-19 swirl, this eBook will help you form next quarter’s business objectives. The data provided for each region will guide you in forecasting trends so that can prepare your employees, your supply chain, and your customers.
