Finishing touches are being put on the first activity mural at Lynch Park.

Keep Newnan Beautiful, in partnership with Newnan’s Leisure Services Department, is working on adding an activity mural to Lynch Park.

Page Beckwith, director of Keep Newnan Beautiful, said they have contracted with local artist Amber Leah Stidham for the first mural.

Beckwith said the idea for the mural came when the city was working on refreshing Lynch Park, adding new benches and putting a fresh coat of paint on some of the equipment. She said in the process of that, the beautification team reached out to see if there were other things they could add.

She said there had been some sidewalk paintings in the park before, such as hopscotch and four square, that a local Girl Scout troop had donated.

Beckwith said the activities were very well loved, to the point that they were peeling and needed to be refreshed. She said she saw it as an opportunity to add other activities as well.

“I think it’ll be super fun for the kids and integrate an educational component,” Beckwith said.

The first activity mural is being done with concrete paint, and the finishing touches are being put on this week. Beckwith said they will also be working on adding additional activities.

She said they are looking at adding a who can jump the farthest game, a new hopscotch, four square and a mini activity trail.

“The feedback so far has been fabulous,” Beckwith said.
