SANTA CRUZ — Police activity on Highway 17 forced the roadway closure in both directions from Summit Road to Sugarloaf Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol.
CHP Public Information Officer Alyssa Gutierrez would not confirm the cause of the closure.
She did say that “out of an abundance of caution” the highway was closed and that there is no estimated time of reopening. The roadway was opened before 3 p.m.
Gutierrez said that since it’s an ongoing investigation, additional information was not disclosed.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
