NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Flash flooding is causing major issues on roadways across Middle Tennessee. Multiple agencies are reporting vehicles are stalled and stuck following heavy rains Sunday morning.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed I-24 East at Haywood Lane (MM 57) due to flooding. I-24 West is open except for the Bell Road exit (MM 59) which is closed.
Several feet of deep water were seen on Interstate 24 between Exit 57 (Haywood Lane) and Exit 60 (Hickory Hollow).
Water rescues have been taking place across parts of Middle Tennessee on Sunday.
A Flash Flood Watch is out for this area until 7 p.m. An additional 2-3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts up to 4-5" could be possible through the afternoon.
