A new high mark in active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County was set upon publication of data on Tuesday by the County Division of Public Health on its Coronavirus Case Dashboard.
The previous high of 2,634 set November 24, 2020 was surpassed when 414 active cases were added, pushing the count to 2,654. A total of 23,500 COVID-19 cases have been recorded here during the pandemic.
Two more deaths were added to the toll, increasing the number of victims to 187. The two most recent were both at least 80 years old, with that age group now accounting for ninety-four of the deaths. Forty-five were in their 70s, twenty-eight were in their 60s, eight were in their 50s, seven were in their 40s, four were in their 30s and one casualty was between 10 and 19 years old.
Sheboygan County is currently experiencing a “High” rate of community transmission, with a Case Rate of 956.3 per 100,000 persons, unchanged from Monday. The percent of positive tests over the last 7 days was noted at 30.37%, up about 0.6% since Monday.
45 persons are now hospitalized, with total hospitalizations now reaching 1,084 an increase of 4 since Monday.
The number of county residents having received at least one dose of vaccine is now 70,531, or 61.2% of the population, with 64 added in the last day. 59 more persons completed their series of shots. That total is now 66,588, or 57.8% of the population.
Facility-Wide investigations now include five nursing homes, one more than last week, and 45 educational facilities, the same number as last week.
