Isolated heavy rain showers this morning resulted in several roads in the North Hills being shut down because of flooding, according to PennDOT.
The state transportation department has closed:
• Union Avenue (Route 4023) in Bellevue
• Seavey Road (Route 4004) in Shaler
• Rochester Road (Route 4011) in Franklin Park
Portions of Reis Run Road (Route 4022/4027) in Franklin Park have been reduced to a single because of a landslide.
The National Weather Service only recorded 0.05 inches of rain at Pittsburgh International Airport this morning, but the rainfall was significantly heavier in other parts of the region, with some communities getting nearly 1 inch of rain within a roughly 2.5-hour time span.
Portions of Pittsburgh’s East End, including Highland Park and Lawrenceville, were hit the heaviest, with about 1.39 inches of rain falling between 7 and 9:30 a.m., according to meteorologist Lee Hendricks.
Motorists can check the conditions of these roads and other traffic disruptions using PennDOT’s online traffic camera system.
