Atlanta's Freddie Freeman hit his 250th career home run to back the strong pitching of Ian Anderson and help the visiting Braves to a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Freeman was 2-for-4 with a walk, scored two runs and drove in a pair with his 10th homer, a two-run shot in the second inning. He became the sixth player in franchise history to reach the 250-homer milestone.
Anderson (3-1) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, when Daniel Vogelbach broke it up with a leadoff single to center field. Anderson was removed after Pablo Reyes then doubled to left field.
Anderson allowed one run on two hits, with four walks and four strikeouts. It was the fourth time in eight starts that he has allowed one or no runs.
Will Smith pitched the ninth inning to finish the game in a non-save situation.
Brewers starter Brett Anderson (2-3) was knocked out after pitching 3 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on eight hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.
The Braves scored two runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI double by Ozzie Albies, who has reached base safely in 18 straight games, and Dansby Swanson's sacrifice fly.
Reyes' double in the seventh sent Vogelbach to third, and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Luis Urias. The Brewers again had runners at second and third later in the inning, but center fielder Guillermo Heredia made a long running catch to take a likely double away from pinch-hitter Lorenzo Cain.
The Braves got the run back in the eighth for a 5-1 lead on a solo homer from William Contreras, his third of the season.
The Brewers lost their No. 5 hitter in the fifth inning when third baseman Travis Shaw was ejected for arguing a called third strike in the bottom of the fourth. His replacement, Reyes, had two of the team's three hits.
The Braves were still without right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr., who missed his second game with a sore ankle. The club had been optimistic that the slugger would be able to play on Saturday. He remains day to day.
