Recently there has been a lot of debate going on towards whether Facebook should change its policies towards freedom of speech, hate speech and regulation of media. While the internet giant refuses to budge and give any sort of leeway by stating that it would completely change their scape.
However, PlayStation has taken a keen step towards the better cause by completely suspending all activities on their platforms. Both paid and unpaid advertisements, as a result, would come to a halt as reported. In support of the #StopHateForProfit campaign folks over at PlayStation have suspended the activity till the end of July with ambitions to change the way modern people think.
Gaming as a whole has been a catalyst in bringing people together yet there’s also a dark side to the community. With toxicity levels unparalleled there’s a lot of gamers go through henceforth its always a relief to hear something like this from the mega-companies like PlayStation.
While Facebook stands still with its policies regarding hate speech and sensitive content it is definitely an eyeopener for both the executives and the general public. Just exactly what does Facebook stand for if it doesn’t ensure a safe and healthy environment for its users? If they really do care about freedom then they should rather opt for a more direct and open approach like Reddit.
