Northbound and southbound I-43 shut down by law enforcement - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

cicingwos.blogspot.com

North and southbound lanes of Interstate 43 have been shut down near Kilbourn Avenue as law enforcement tends to a person on an overpass.

In a tweet Tuesday morning, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said it was assisting the Marquette University Police Department with a full freeway closure.

Shortly after noon, Milwaukee police tweeted they were on the 1000 block of West Wells Street with a subject on an overpass. The incident caused closures on I-43 and West Wells Street, from North 10th to North 11th streets.

"Please avoid the area and use an alternative route," police said. "This is a fluid and active investigation."

Law enforcement has not immediately responded to requests for more information, but the Wisconsin Department of Transportation website said an incident occurred in the area around 10:45 a.m.

As of 12:30 p.m., Marquette University police had not issued a safety alert, according to the department's website.
