RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Southbound I-75 in Richmond is back open after being closed for hours due to a deadly crash.

The crash involving two commercial vehicles happened near mile marker 91 around 7:15 a.m. Thursday.

Chief Rodney Richardson says one person was killed in the crash. The Madison County coroner has identified the victim as 46-year-old Billy Jolly of Fleming County. No other injuries have been reported.

No other details about the crash are available at this time. The road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clean up and the crash reconstruction team investigated.

The road reopened shortly before 2:30 p.m. However, traffic is backed up for miles. Alternate routes like U.S. 25 were also very backed up as traffic diverted off the interstate.
