Sprinter rail lines were shut down shortly before noon Saturday after a car hit a light pole along the line, knocking it onto the tracks.
The crash took place at 11:47 a.m., and involved two vehicles, Oceanside police Lt. Karen Laser said. One vehicle, a Chevy Surburan, rear-ended a sedan at the intersection, and then struck the light pole. Airbags deployed on the Suburban, and the driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Laser said.
Lines were closed in both directions, as fire officials and North County Transit District crews responded to the accident and attempted to clear the line. The rail lines reopened about an hour later, Laser said.
