Face Masks Aren't Required For This Disney World Activity - Inside the Magic

If you are traveling to Walt Disney World anytime soon, it is strongly advised for you to be fully aware of all of the rules and regulations for Disney Guests. This includes having knowledge of the new health and safety protocol in place at Disney Parks and Resorts — including the face mask policy.

It is Disney World policy that all Guests ages two and up are required to wear an appropriate face-covering unless they are actively eating or drinking (and stationary while doing so) or swimming. Many Guests have been under the impression that face masks are required in all areas of Disney World…or are they?

We noticed that in the promotional images of the new robo carts for the Disney World golf courses, none of the Guests are wearing masks. To many, this may feel normal, as the Guests are shown outdoors. But to others, this may feel strange.

Face coverings are required across Walt Disney World Resort property — including at the theme parks and hotels — and  Disney recently edited a Disney Springs commercial so that everyone is wearing a mask. So, why wouldn’t Disney be promoting mask-wearing in these new promotional images for the Walt Disney World golf courses?

We dug a bit deeper, and here’s what we found.

According to the official Walt Disney World Golf website, face coverings are required in all public areas, except when Guests are on the golf course or driving range. Take a look:

All Guests and Cast Members beginning on 6/20/20, until further notice, will be required to wear face coverings in public areas. This is a mandate due to the Executive Order enacted by the Orange County Government. All individuals entering the golf pro shop, restroom facilities, or utilizing our Food & Beverage outlets must have a face covering while in a populated public area. Once out on the golf course, or driving range facility, guests will no longer be required to wear their face covering while exercising.

The WDW Golf website also has extensive information on the health and safety measures currently in place.

So, it’s possible that Disney World did not want to give off the impression that face masks were required while golfing, and that’s why these new promotional images include Guests who aren’t wearing face coverings. However, it also may cause some confusion, as the images depict Guests on Disney World property without masks on.

Furthermore, we advise you against thinking that this means Disney is loosening their current face mask policy. The Disney World website still states that masks are required at the theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, and Disney Springs. You can read more here.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has shared that wearing a mask is not a substitute for physical distancing. WDW Golf continues to promote physical distancing on the golf courses, as well.

What do you think of the differences in the face mask policy at the Disney World theme parks and on the Disney World golf courses? Let us know in the comments.
