(WAOW) — The continued daily drop in COVID-19 case reports is showing up at the state level, with disease activity dropping from "very high" to "high."
Wisconsin has spent months in the "very high" category, and at one point the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) had to create a "critically high" category.
DHS tracks disease activity on a running two-week basis. The state officially dropped into the "high" category during the reporting period of January 20 through February 2. At that time, three of the states seven regions were still in the "very high" category.
Three of those counties are in the North Central Wisconsin region: Oneida, Iron, and Vilas.
Now, in the latest reporting period of January 27 through February 9, all regions are in the "high" activity level. Of the state's 72 counties, only nine are listed as "critically high."
At the state level, the case burden is 265.1 per 100,000 with a trajectory of -28%.
In the North Central Wisconsin region, the case burden is slightly higher than the state with 270.3 per 100,000. The region has a shrinking trajectory driven by six counties: Marathon, Portage, Wood, Vilas, Oneida and Price. All but Iron County had no significant change. Iron County has a growing trajectory of 257%.
